It is a historical event. Jesus was a real person, and there are a lot of sources - outside the bible - about him as a person and his crucifixion.
That’s my entire point. I’d like to know the truth behind the religion. I find it absolutely fascinating how historical events get warped over time to become a religion that billions of people still believe in today.

It’s probably one of the most influential events in modern human history and while the truth of it is probably very boring, I’d still like to know.
I mean…you can be pedantic about it, but to me this reads fairly clearly as “If it can’t be removed with a screwdriver, it’s not allowed.”
Decisions like this just prove how massive the market for a self-hostable alternative is. They’re not banning it because it’s a bad tool, they’re banning it because they’re concerned about what happens to the source code their engineers paste into it.
There are already a bunch of OSS attempts, and it likely won’t take long until we have something of comparable quality to ChatGPT is available for companies to host on their own hardware.

I’m not saying ITER is a bad project, I don’t even think the cost is a problem, I just think that the regulations surrounding the financing of these kinds of projects often do more harm than good.
Honestly, going wildly over budget is pretty much par for the course in any sort of large scale infrastructure project in Europe. With the way tender procedure’s work in the EU, it’s entirely expected that things are going to end up being more expensive and take twice as long. It’s stupid and wasteful, but it’s “public money” and not going to change any time soon.

This looks pretty good, and I wouldn’t mind paying for search, but it seems really pricy. I’ve never counted how many searches I do, but it’s definitely more than 10 a day. $10 a month seems like a lot for just search…

I don’t disagree, but there are ways to use color without making everything shiny. If everything pops, nothing does, and for me personally that just felt like a little much.
Obviously this might just be the trailer and we’ll have to wait and see what it actually looks like, but to me it feels a little like they’re trying to make up for poor texture quality by making everything 50% brighter and more saturated.
I realize Obsidian isn’t known for visual masterpieces, but this looks extremely dated. The original teaser also had a much darker feel to it than this trailer. Seems a lot more colorful than I expected.
It’ll be on Game Pass, so I’ll probably check it out anyway, but this kind of dampened my expectations by a lot.
Totally agree on Persona 5. Maybe it’s just because I don’t particularly care about anime, but I just couldn’t get into it. It just feels like hours and hours of boring anime filler episodes.
I’m also not a big fan of turn based combat, so that didn’t help.
Might be my bubble, but I don’t think disliking HZD is a particularly unpopular opinion. Personally, I really enjoyed it, but I can definitely understand why someone wouldn’t. Aloy can be both boring and annoying and the story didn’t really live up to its potentia. I can see why it would be difficult to get into it.
For me, the gameplay more than makes up for those shortcomings. Fighting robot dinosaurs with bow and arrow is right up my alley. Also the latest DLC for the sequel made Aloy actually interesting for the first time, so I have some hopes for story in the third game.
I basically bought the Steam Deck as a Hades machine and I don’t regret it one bit, lol. Such a fantastic game. I’ve loved everything Supergiant has put out, but the replay value of Hades makes it one of my all-time favourites, and the Steam Deck is just perfect for quick rounds of a rogue-like.
My little conspiracy theory on this: I wouldn’t be surprised if every intelligence agency in Europe knew how did it, but no one is going to tell, and we’re not going to find out for years.
An attack on critical infrastructure like this is essentially an act of war, and nobody in Europe wants to escalate this conflict any more by admitting they know who’s responsible.
If it was Ukraine, it would result in public outcry, and we’d basically be forced to cease any military support. If it was Russia, it’s an act of war and there’d be public pressure in the other direction, maybe even enough to make us officially declare war. If it was the US, there’d be pressure for at the very least some pretty severe diplomatic consequences.
Nobody in European governments wants any of those results right now. Everybody is content to just leave it be and an article like this pointing blame at one of the three every couple of months is the only thing we’ll hear on it until it gets declassified in 50 years when it doesn’t matter anymore.
I’m not a historian, but Tacitus definitely mentioned Jesus’ crucifixion. Saying there are a “a lot” of source is an exaggeration, you’re right about that, but there’s basically no doubt that Jesus was a real, historical figure. (I’m not saying that you’re disputing that, I’m just still stuck on the guy actually thinking that Jesus wasn’t real.)
Obviously Christian sources can’t be taken at face value, but there’s enough corroborating evidence - be it archaeological or written - that proves that at least some of the things in the gospels are based on facts, even if it’s certainly embellished and a lot of it likely just made up and/or warped over time.
