i’m doing it because I want to make the fediverse more friendly place, in hopes of making it more welcoming for new users, and the nicer place in general. But I wonder how much is just less bots.

    They didn’t really mean shit on Reddit either except to the high score obsessed and people who intended to sell their account to be used by bots and scammers.

      I thought people couldn’t post anymore if they hit negative karma on Reddit. Also, some other aspects of their account are affected, so I’ve heard.

        If you start a new account and it gets negative, you start getting timeouts. Say, one comment per 30 minutes or so. It’s easier to just ditch it, create another one, and spam memes until you hit a comfortable karma score in order to participate in heavier debates. Otherwise, one wrong word can essentially lock you out early on.
