Coal plant burns coal to heat water, makes steam, and the steam powers a turbine to produce electricity. A nuclear power plant uses nuclear fuel to heat water and produce steam similar to a coal plant. It may do this indirectly (e.g. second loop between the nuclear fuel and water loop to prevent the water becoming radioactive). This means that to build a nuclear plant you essentially need to build a coal plant, and then also the nuclear reactor and safety stuff, which makes them more expensive. Since coal plants are being turned off anyways, it might be more cost effective to just retrofit old coal plants so the only cost is the nuclear reactor side of things (plus any necessary maintenance and upgrades)
Also if you want a domain but dont care about the actual address, a .xyz domain composed entirely of numbers with less than 10 digits is $1-2 + same as renewal fee per year. $1.22 for me on porkbun
Just be sure to redact the whois information bc you will get a call from scammers trying to get you to register your domain on some “internet map” for a small fee acting as if its some step in your setup process you havent done yet
Typically if you report the phone stolen to your provider they blacklist the IMEI which gets shared with other providers so the phone can no longer be used. I was unclear on this part but a new e-sim can be provided for the new phone, and the old sim banned or the old one transferred. Regardless, the old phone will still show the IMEI/sim/phone number, which is how they got that to text them
The phone itself (by IMEI) is a brick. The sim and same phone number were assigned to a new phone and they texted that number
It’s a lie because Im too dumb to prove it
I got generic reolink ipcams and put them on their own VLAN, then put firewall rules on my router to block them but let my NVR through. I plugged them all into an unmanaged POE switch which then goes up to my managed switch which handles the VLANs
The cameras have ONVIF/RTSP so it’ll work with BlueIris or other NVR software
Mainline freecad always annoyed me because it has messages that pop up and really frustrated me to no end
The realthunder fork suppresses a lot of the popups which made it a lot less annoying to work with
One example I could think of is title-tagged posts given the lack of a tag implementation
In general, there’s pros and cons to both. Iirc inflation is considered to be a bit better than deflation because deflation is linked to economic crisis, high unemployment, low productivity, and low sales. Inflation isn’t much better but having a very small amount of inflation is more manageable and has some benefits.
There’s an RFC for (per post?) tags but not sure what ever happened to that
Probably something to do with the great depression and needing to make cheap foods interesting
Something to do with women having to make things look less lazy/not just serving ready made things, and like they put work into making food in the post ww1 period. Recipe books tended to have the crazier stuff trying to get you to use more of their other products
Oil is placed on the pan and then it is heated to form a non-stick coating. This layer can have small holes in it, so the process is repeated many times. The holes do not line up, which makes the path for water to get through much longer or blocks it. This means water can not easily make it through all of the layers. That also means any water that gets in can’t easily get out, and it can cause rust to form if it makes it through the coating and is left on there.
What kind of emails are you sending to what kind of people, and how frequently that AI increases your productivity? I don’t think I ever have emails that AI could do better or faster, since it’d probably take longer to explain to the AI what I need it to write than to type it out myself. Then again I’m in an engineering setting and it’s pretty much just numbers, confirmations, basic requests, and issue descriptions, IT tickets, mostly
I have more than once found a post my exact problem with an exact solution and sources, only to go back and realize it was my own post from n years back
Don’t trust anyone - not even yourself
Not from microsoft but rather from nintendo. Same reason portal 64 got axed - the library he used had nintendo proprietary stuff but valve was apprehensive about being sued even if he used an open source library to replace it and didnt use any nintendo software or branding
