Yeah, let’s call it a self defence cable instead. Like a corded taser.

Nah, industrial communication protocols in the IT industry uses lots of master/slave terminology. E.g. Modbus and Profibus DP comes to mind.
The majority of users are either a communist or almost a communist.
I was 97% communist at the last measurement. I think I will get the final 3% any day now, God willing.
a human produces 1.35 deaths per 100M miles driven
My car has been driven around 100k miles by a human, i.e. it has produced 0.00135 deaths. Is that like a third of a pinky toe?
Most.
(Also a made up statistic)
Shutting down FM broadcasting doesn’t mean shutting down radio; if you read the link, you’ll see that DAB is taking it’s place in those places.
That doesn’t help much if your country has shut down FM broadcasting though.
Or ensuring the spool is still useful 15 years later while everything has migrated to SFP/QSFP
Nah, the remaining spool will be useful for the rest of its/your lifetime, it always comes in handy as a generic 4-pair twisted pair signal cable for any non-ethernet purpose. I’ve used my old spool twice this year; first for an m-bus cable to my power meter and then for a limit switch for my garage door.
I’ve been happy with all my FatMax line of tools so far, especially the tape measure. Thanks for the tip on the utility knife, will look for it!
Do you also get the webcam paranoia though? I’m covering up mine when I’m working in the nude.
The major big tent communities/subreddits all look the same.
What’s your favorite tent community? Looking for input on getting a Coleman, but I’m open for suggestions.
Trying to de-bloat KDE feels like a game of chicken. Whichever K-application I try to uninstall, I get a prompt asking me to confirm if I want to uninstall a plethora of important-sounding kde packages. It gambles on me not knowing which “kde-[…]” packages are vital for KDE Plasma to run, so I don’t take the chance on uninstalling the email client, multimedia programs etc.
Old command line interface works perfectly but that’s mostly for developer.
No. I’m comfortable with command line tools, and I’m far from being a developer. People used DOS etc. as well without being developers.
DDG. On a related note, it seems like Google doesn’t know me at all, 'cause they always give me wiki results in my local language over the english wiki, although I exclusively click the google search result for English Wikipedia further down…
Nice! I did the same not so long ago.
Proxmox on server with Debian VMs. Debian 12 with KDE Plasma on workstation. So basically Debian all the way.
Have used Linux Mint and Pop!_OS in the past, but the name of the latter is annoying enough to make me use something else.
I run Debian at home because “Microsoft evil”, but I kinda think the Windows 10 image we use at work is alright. I work at a Forbes 500 company with a huuuge IT department, so I’m guessing they’ve done well at setting up group policies or something to make a de-cluttered experience for us. At least I never see any ads or Bing bullshit, and the Start menu works like I expect from ye old days. I could never make W10 work just as sleek at home, so I gave up and moved to Linux.
That said, most developers here still use a local Linux VM for actual developing lol.
