AI as in machine learning? No I dont think that’s bad. It’s a very useful technology that we’ve already been using for decades in a bunch of different fields. But I’m assuming you’re referring to LLMs which are what’s being integrated into Firefox.

I would argue that LLMs ARE bad. For multiple reasons. At least the big ones run by these giant tech companies.

If you’re locally running one with training data provided by you then I don’t see an issue with that really. (except maybe energy consumption issues. Though I don’t imagine a personal use LLM run locally would draw anywhere near the energy that something like Chat Gpt is drawing.)

I’m very much on the side that believes that what these LLM models do essentially boils down to theft/plagiarism though. So if you disagree with that you may disagree that LLMs are bad.

I did. I’m not needing to switch. At least not right now. (hence the ‘may’ in my original comment) But given the Laura Chambers interim CEO thing and now this LLM integration. Mozilla seems to be making moves that I don’t agree with. But as long as they stay true to their key tennents I won’t need to switch. Which would be good. Because I really don’t want to. But I’ve seen a enough good companies become bad companies that I’m weary for the future of the app. So being aware of what alternatives may be out there would be helpful.

Was going to be upset because I played the game through game pass and bought the Lego dlc for it but not the actual game. Looks like they’re sending out free copies of the game if you are in the same boat. So that’s good.

According to who? Halo CE anniversary is higher fidelity than the original sure. But the art direction is all over the place and not at all consistent with the original style. Not to mention the fact they changed the geometry of everything without actually changing collision. Making shots hit walls/trees/objects that are no longer in that spot.

They also just took enemy models straight out of halo reach without any consideration for how those designs match the original games aesthetic.

If you like it, great. I’m happy you’re able to enjoy it. But as someone who grew up with the original the anniversary version was a slap in the face and a blatant cash grab.

That being said I don’t have much faith that a new remake would be much better.

To be honest I actually don’t think it sounds all that bad. If it were forced military service I’d think it was terrible. But it sounds like you can just do community service instead of the military training. And it’s just one weekend a month for twelve months. Given how much we’re disconnected from our communities these days I think making sure kids engage with their communities in this way could actually be really beneficial.

That’s just thinking about this one policy in a Vaccuum though. I know nothing about British politics so I have no clue what other awful and heinous shit this party may or may not be into.

I would disagree that there’s zero reason for this data to be public record. I’d agree with you if we were just shielding individuals who are purchasing like one handgun or something. That’s something that I don’t think is anyone else’s business. But if a dude is buying 95 semi-automatic rifles in a short period of time you bet your ass I think that should be public knowledge. No one should be able to secretly purchase enough firearms to arm a small militia.

Nothing to do with the Mexican govt. The US govt passed a law in 2003 to prevent gun sale data from being public record. This includes sales of firearms eventually used in armed conflicts in Mexico.

I mean. This is what Ubi have been doing forever. Just about all of there games allow you to link with Ubisoft connect for some little in-game tchotchkes. But they never require it. I remember getting the Altair outfit from it way back in Assassin’s Creed 2.

It’s not like Ubi are new to PC gaming like Sony is. Doesn’t make sense for them to change tact now. This is just an easy win for them riding off the back of Sony’s blunder.

And music streaming is only as good as it is because artists are getting completely shafted at every turn by both the streaming services and the record labels.

Damn. Hifi Rush was probably my favorite game last year. And that’s saying a lot for a year absolutely packed with crazy good releases.

Hopefully the devs maintained the rights to the IP, though I somehow doubt it, so they can still make the sequel under a different umbrella.
