yes, I know, but sometimes there are things or subjects from someone or some community you don’t want to read about. That’s where blocking comes into play. You can concentrate on what you want to read most by eliminating distractions.
But I do respect your opinion on WefWef. As a matter of fact, if the time comes that wefewef(voyager) becomes fully featured, I may make it my main way of browsing lemmy as I do also like it’s UI and responsiveness…
The fact is wefwef is very very barebones. No options for setting are implemented yet and it doe not even have an option to block users and communities.
Do twitter bots have to pay subscription also?
I’m on android, but this got me curious.
What technology does memmy use, and why is it a concern?
Right, monopolies crumbling will give space to innovation. No one company will buy up smaller company and then put their innovations behind closed doors, never to be seen again.
Though I doubt google wiill go under for what YouTube is doing. Google is stilll huge and profitable. Most likely it will outlast all of it’s peers from the 2000 dotcom boom.
Twitter, on the other hand, well. It’s on its 9th live and is hanging by the ledge.
Im waiting for the block option and hide when read.
for me, Jerboa is the most complete followed by Lift Off, third is Connect for lemmy.
I also cannot find some of the site features with wefwef.
Scorched earth!
Theres a hole in the bottom. The plug is also $999
Seems fun. Waiting for s hands on review.
Well the people providing unique perspectives to issues have probably moved. So we move with them. It’s not, like, reddit the platform was the one providing those perspectives.
I just peeped. So many are clueless and simping to spez
Hell yeah, I’m waiting for the first sale of Diablo 4 on the console. (cross fingers it’s this coming holiday)
Well now, subreddit name checks out.
Some people may never return to Reddit, some will maintain a Reddit presence while simultaneously having a presence in Lemmy and other forums. Then slowly, they will be able to discern the difference in quality, and maybe leave Reddit for good.
So it is very important to have each of our Lemmy instance population have meaningful contributions and keep our boards alive and maintain some semblance of quality content. This will end Reddit. If others have better quality as compared to Reddit, then Reddit will be doomed.
It’s okay to not be a successor. In fact, I know one of those you mentioned actively rejects being treated as a Reddit alternative.
The important thing is they exist and have a sizeable footprint where people could choose to spend their online presence and contribute. This makes Reddit less of a monopoly and erodes its hold on users.
I do not want another Reddit. Seeing how bad it became. I want a community with its own flavor that is distinct from Reddit. That way, however, I might feel or whatever my mood is for that time of day. I could choose where and what culture to interact with. These instances and new forum give me the power of choice that Reddit has tried so hard to withhold from us.
I’ve seen users there mocking the protest. Even outrightly being hostile to individual users who post support. And when I look at their profiles I see that they are mostly 3 or 4-year-old accounts.
It seems that you are right. The users who came into Reddit accompanying its decline, simply do not care and are part of the mindless shitposters who partially ruined the site.
It’s great to be alive!
