So the idea to make people think that Nazis are using AI, might have come from a Nazi AI? 🤯
A geologist and archaeologist by training, a nerd by inclination - books, films, fossils, comics, rocks, games, folklore, and, generally, the rum and uncanny… Let’s have it!

I imagine that might happen in a couple if years.
I’m blaming a weasel.
Don’t Ban This Book.
They seem to be taking things literally, so let them get their head around this.
Ban This Book Too
Removed Post Kansas Constitution does not include a right to vote, state Supreme Court majority says
This is lunacy, why would a constitution not guarantee basic rights? Reads like a joke about conservatives.
That was one of mine (and I have another pending, as an Admin I get to see reports for users of my instance, including me) and it’s removal is fair enough as Mods have to be allowed to set the remit of their community and prune content accordingly. As long as they aren’t abusing their powers, which is not the case here.
As I’ve reported another post on here for rule 4 violation, it would also be a bit hypocritical of me to complain.
As another comment suggests, perhaps start c/notquitetheonion on here or (preferably) another general instance (spread the love and the load) for things that don’t quite make the grade here - if they are deleted an Admin can still fish them out of the Modlog and repost them if needed. It would likely help this community by diverting things that don’t meet the standard of inclusion.
I have put a list in the sidebar at [email protected] - there may not be one that ticks all the boxes but if you want some weird news in your feed mixing a couple in might do the trick. As Lemmy doesn’t do algorithms we have to curate our own feeds with something from column A and something else from column B until you have your own bespoke smorgasbord.
No it’s still juice that is orange, just not juice from an orange.
It’s still a bit of a mix but then it can be subjective but it’s another source of NOT news and we have to curate our own feeds.
Because everyone remembers he user to lead “lock her up” chants, so claiming otherwise is utterly bizarre, in a 1984 “Oceania had always been at with Eurasia” way.
Looking back the one that stood out for me was “‘Atlas’ movie review: J.Lo battles space robots in new Netflix film”.
There is at least one bot dragging over NTO from the other place and it does tend to have less political content: [email protected] I suppose it falls to the users here to post more of what they think fits and report what they feel doesn’t. We can help define the remit of this place if we feel it is going down the wrong track.
It also depends in what you are looking for - there are other weird news communities on Lemmy, I’ve tried to list them in the sidebar at [email protected]
A big issue is about half of everything trump says could easily be the onion. Which is likely why there’s so many political ones.
It’s also an election year, in which Trump was tried for shenanigans, which will lead to a lot more news stories than usual where you read the headline and wonder if this is satire or not. Things will return back to a more even stream of content but US politics is especially odd at the moment.
They Live.
The Thing but not The Thing From Another World.
Most things based on the work of PKD.
A lot of Lovecraft adaptations have to be a bit loose (because his stories tend not to lend themselves to films and he wasn’t a good person) and are all the better for it - Re-animator, From Beyond, The Color Out of Space, Dagon, etc. plus quite a few fan films.
Flash Gordon film.
The first two Blade films - they struggle to make great Blade comics.
The Legion TV series.
It wasn’t even a book, more a sketch, a joke even. A lot (most?) of the adaptations of PKD’s writing are better than the original. And yet, the core concepts, about the nature of humanity and reality, break through and inspire some truly great work.
You have been drinking orange juice, not orange juice. It’s an easy mistake to make.
Warning: this is orange juice, not orange juice
They didn’t give a reason for declining output in Florida.
It does say:
On top of that, Florida has been hit by a series of hurricanes as well as the greening disease, which is spread by a tiny insect called the Asian citrus psyllid.
I have also since this post purchased MMwave sensors. But they’re worse for picking up the cats.
You can fine tune some and the Aqara FP2 seems to do a good job ignoring pets.
I ended up making binary sensors for each room in Node Red. Did I leave the room? Who else is there, nobody? Ok mark it clear…
Why not use mmWave presence sensors?
Given thr way AI is prone to hallucinations, they should definitely have a go at building them. Might solve our problems for us.
