  • Brave is an advertising company first and foremost. It can say it’s privacy respecting compared to Google, but it is still an advertising company.

The whole BAT/Ads/etc. is like what Microsoft is doing with Microsoft Rewards (though at least Microsoft Rewards provides actual value); that is, turning people into lab rats and modifying their behavior in a way to benefit the company. You may not like Bing, but it gives you gift cards or discounts; you may not like the Ads and notifications brave gives you, but you can convert BAT to USD after seeing thousands of ads.

You then have the affiliate shit that went on, which isn’t surprising given they are an ad company, but they didn’t explicit say they did this until caught. Something I can think of that is similar is that Vivaldi’s ad blocker won’t block ads on partners, by default, but Vivaldi in its ad blocker settings shows a list that you “disable” to enable ad blocking on said sites.

  • GIF (J sound). For those who are confused or don’t understand the debate, many people forget phonetics, and that letters can make different sounds depending on the use case. The words below use a soft g sound, like in the word “Justice”, (at least with US English). Pronouncing them with a hard g sounds odd, but only due to us being used to the way use pronounce them already. Though it doesn’t matter much, saying with a soft G (J sound) is easier and faster to say due to how one’s mouth moves. Saying it with a hard G requires more muscle, bringing one’s tongue to the back of the mouth to produce a hard G “Google”.

  • Honest question: Why is Sony against this when they have purchased many franchises and companies over the years and have kept them platform exclusive? Naughty Dog, Insomniac (now), etc. (iirc, they had a deal with Square Enix, but that seems to have changed as Kingdom Hearts is now on most platforms IIRC, same goes for FF)

I grew up with PS2 and love the Jak and Daxter franchise but always hated that after that generation, without emulating via software, that the games aren’t platform-agnostic.

(I side with no company, was just looking for perspectives on the issue)
