  • Pretty much: everyone’s dumb when they’re talking about shit they don’t know about and have no experience with. If you let people collaborate organically though, they can understand eachother better and come up with much better ideas than if they were each working separately in their own separate little departments and communicating via help desk tickets and bug reports

  • TIL appeal to authority is when you cite someone with relevant experience as maybe having thoughts worth listening to on the subject. It’s not merely because he’s a smart physicist, but also because he had a wide variety of political life experience and makes good arguments.

You present no counter argument and just yell “fallacy”. Neither you nor the original reply even bothered to check the veracity of the quote or cite any reasons for or against einstein’s opinion, merely dismissing it out of hand and implying it is ridiculous.

  • Is it the same though? Even if you have major disagreements with the treatment of uyghurs (the actual treatment, not the unsourced adrian zenz propaganda version), it’s not the same as Palestine. I mean come on, look at the decades of apartheid rule and the world’s largest open air prison (Gaza)

Or look at the US’ own treatment of migrants, the deplorable conditions in detention and the arguably worse treatment when they are illegally deported pending their asylum hearing, etc.

Conflating china’s overreaches/missteps with the US’s decades long history of horrible treatment of the third world and even their own citizens is disgusting. You can criticise both without uncritically buying into propaganda, but everyone that is absolutely rabid about china always seems to be “well its bad but totally redeeemable” about the United States which is inarguably a worse force in the world, and far less popular at home too.

  • Well if you’re going to be so specific as to say “genzedong-style”, maybe pay attention to the “zedong” part? Presumably they believe in socialism-with-chinese-characteristics as a path towards communism.

Putin idk, in my experience they usually only support russia insofar as it undermines the hegemony of the United States, whose consolidated power over global affairs has been a major blocker of left wing movements worldwide since ww2. But there are some who seem to take it more seriously than that and either are too caught up in the memes or legitimately don’t understand that modern russia is a capitalist hellscape.
