#HOPE 2023

EDIT: edited out the link to the trash article, sorry for anyone who felt offended, I thought it was obvious from the post text that the intent was to turn around the ridicule point of view of this pathetically right winged “subscription-biased” media outlet, and simply use their mad headline instead as if it was a piece of the past Obama campaign around the HOPE hahstag. I initially left the link for objectivity and context purposes.

Jesus that article reads like the schizophrenic ramblings that nutters used to leave on your windshield while you were shopping in Kmart

Not even close to being true, as with all Right Wing smear media.

Oh, if he’s convicted on even the minor charges it will effectively be life in prison, none of them carry the death penalty.

Pity,I personally wish him a most painful and utterly humiliating death… so are you happy you are sending me off to bed after crushing my only happy thought I had left for this year?

While I agree with the article’s premises that treason should carry the death penalty, that presidents are not above the law, and that Trump is likely guilty of treason, this is some claptrap alt-right ragebait designed to rile their base.

However, credit where credit is due - clever of use of the misleading headline and the #hope tag - that’s some deft upvote farming and propaganda seeding. And I do love this line:

…we may be watching footage of Trump enjoying one last Big Mac and fries in his cell before he is led down the hallway to be strapped into Old Sparky.

    #hope indeed… but also #altright #ragebait #propaganda #trash

EDIT: OP responded below and the #hope hashtag was just missing its /s - hats off for the edits and clarification.

that’s some deft upvote farming and propaganda seeding.

nah, I was just happy for the possibility and made a joke about the hashtag HOPE from the past Obama campaign, and that was it.
There was no propaganda intent, as many others noted the article easily seems written by someone with a severe anomaly involving having his brain way to close to where the body stores the feces, but I also reckon that I maybe should have maybe then just posted in Political Humor, maybe just reporting the headline without the actual link to the article itself.
My bad then if anyone here felt offended. Please consider the link to the article just as a NotTheOnion detached section.

      Edited out the link.

Upvote - thanks for the clarification and edits, and my apologies for the insinuation. Just used to slick tricks like this from the alt-right and I assumed that the hashtag wasn’t tongue in cheek.

state should not be killing people

What about pedophiles who refuse to rehabilitate and prefer to live as, and openly enjoy being, predatory MAPs?

        Life sentence in prison.

The idea that there’s an acceptable number of innocent people being killed by the state on the death row so we’re allowed to sometime get vengeance on someone instead of having them go trough their life in a prison cell is simply horrible.

I don’t want my taxes, that I work hard to pay for, going to fund the free meals and shelter for a piece of shit human refuse that does not deserve to exist.

Please help explain to me why you think I’m wrong here, I am genuinely open for you to present an argument to change my mind.

Is it because you think this hypothetical unrehabilitatable pedophile is still capable of change? Or do you think it’s a harsher punishment for them to continue their live in confinement?

More of your taxes go toward killing people - including innocent people - than feeding and housing lifers. It costs more when all is said and done to carry out an execution.

Don’t pretend this is some principled stance about good financial management. The facts aren’t on your side.

Even if someone refuses to change, the permission of murder in the vague view of justice is wrong. Killing a serial killer doesn’t bring their victims back, killing a rapist doesn’t undo the rape they committed.

In America, our thing is “We’d rather have 8 guilty men walk free than 1 innocent jailed” (supposedly), yet there’s been more than zero people who did not commit any crimes, yet were killed. You can’t undo murder. At least if someone is given life in prison, you can set them free.

Let’s not forget that we’re more prone to give the death penalty to BIPOC inmates, not white.

And it costs more to kill someone, than to house and feed them.

Lol no. YouTube lawyer Legal Eagle has a good review of the document charges and how sentencing works in general. Media love to use theoretical maximums as their headline when it’s never actually the sentence people receive.

The article isn’t about the document charges but it’s the same argument. Trump will get the minimum sentences, as would anyone else in his place.
