Sometimes the Lemmy frontpage is 65% “OMG LOOK WHAT SPEZ DID TODAY”.

I get it, Reddit is a trash company and people want to watch the trainwreck. But I use Lemmy as a Reddit alternative, not because I wanna stay up to date on Reddit drama.

I see your point, but I use Lemmy (as I did use Reddit before) to stay up to date on everything relevant, including Twitter/Meta drama, political drama and also Reddit drama.

Which is perfectly fine, c/Reddit fills that niche. But if c/memes is about Reddit, c/technology is about Reddit, as well as c/asklemmy and c/showerthoughts, it’s hard to escape from.

What I’m getting at is: I wouldn’t want Lemmy’s entire identity to be ‘the platform where people go to bash Reddit’.

I think the Lemmy community at large has been impacted by the actions of Reddit so it’s a fairly normal response that will fade over time.

Also, schadenfreude is a powerful drug!

I mean, a large number (including me) are here because of Reddit’s actions. I don’t so much mind seeing what stupid thing Reddit is doing now, because it makes me feel better about being here.
