Is there a community for peertube similar to [email protected]? I feel like peertube could really use some sort of lemmy driven community engagement. Particularly because it integrates so well into lemmy. It reminds me of an old extension that would replace youtube comments with reddit discussions when available.
There is none, I was just looking for one yesterday but couldn’t find any. Then I was thinking if I should start one on my instance, but it’s kind of weird to host a public community on a one-person instance so I didn’t (yet) but if there is interest and nobody else wants to be a mod then I can start one.
Actually, now that you asked I was thinking about it again and then I remembered that I could search in https://lemmyverse.net/communities?query=peertube for it and there seems to be some.
Yep, so it looks like [email protected] is probably the best bet. It’s a bit old and probably goes back to when peertube federation was added to lemmy (which was fairly early I think in part because it wasn’t too hard to do??).
It’s not the most active community but people are posting there.
If you visit the community, be sure to sort by
New
as there are many older posts there and theHot
andActive
sorts have a bug with older posts. The bug is apparently fixed and should ship in the next version or so.
I haven’t seen any PeerTube content shared on Lemmy. Can anyone tell me if it integrates into timelines etc well or have an example post?
I think getting video content onto Lemmy is a hurdle that needs to be overcome. Video streaming is a huge server load though and utilising PeerTubes P2P capabilities to distribute that load throughout the user base would be an excellent solution if it can all be integrated in a way that’s user friendly.
No video embeds as far as I’m aware but channels appear on Lemmy like a community. See here: [email protected]
I was curious how Lemmy integrated with Peertube. This is the first I’ve seen about it, that’s awesome!
It seems like comments aren’t shared from Peertube to Lemmy.
