First, is the marketplace at torrentinvites.org legit? Second, is it dishonorable to do such things? Third, how to avoid scams? Fourth, are there alternative marketplaces to have a sense of whether the price is right?

Kinda sounds like a scam, wouldn’t buy a torrent invite from another website. Usually you can get into them when they have open sign ups or if you know someone in one.

If you’re desperate, and ready to spend money, you can buy your way into IPTorrents.

I’m new to this PT game, just installed Jellyfin then started digging into the arr-verse and installed Jackett and Sonarr to populate Jellyfin with all the old shows that aren’t shown anymore, found SG-1 and The Lost Room without too much trouble but Sonarr is having problems with Warehouse 13 at the moment.

So with r/opensignups gone, what’s another way to know when PT’s are offering sign ups?

You might want to have a look at Usenet. Yes, it costs money but it’s such a premium experience compared to torrents and you don’t have to care about seeding etc at all

Hard agree with Usenet. If you’re doing sonarr/radar stuff save yourself tons of stress and hook into usenet

How do I get started with usenet? I did a quick search in the megathread and didn’t see anything about it. I’ve heard a lot of very positive stuff about usenet, but just trying to figure out about how much it costs all in and everything.

For Usenet, you need 3 things:

              1. Newsreader (this is your downloader). I use SABnzbd
              2. Provider (This provides access to the Usenet Server you would like to download from) Frugal Usenet is cheap and is what I started with, I now also use UsenetPrime.
              3. Indexer (This is where you go to find the files you want to download.) I started with NZBGeek. I now use a combo of NZBGeek, altHub, NZBplanet, and NZBfinder – but I admittedly went a little overboard. You do not need this many indexers.

Using these 3 things combined with Radarr (movies), Sonarr (TV), and Prowlarr (indexers), you will have a great time automating your download process.

If you find that what you want isn’t on your indexer, perhaps think about adding another indexer. If you find that the NZBs grabbed from your indexer are not available at all, consider switching providers. If you find that your downloads aren’t completing (or are missing articles), try a different NZB from your indexer.

That should be a basic introduction on how to get started. Good luck. Let me know if you have questions.

              edit: https://shakil-shahadat.github.io/awesome-piracy/#usenet has some info.

Most trackers have rules explicitly forbidding this practice. If they’re found out (and they will be, it’s not hard to identify if it’s done more than once) you will be banned along with them and the rest of their invite tree. Sorry mate.

Not advocating for it, but what makes it look different than giving it away to randoms on forums? (I’m sure that’s frowned upon too though).

Yes. Don’t do it. On the off-chance it’s not a scam (it most likely is), you will be banned if you or any of the users connected to the seller are found. If it’s also one of the top trackers you buying your way into, you’ll be banned on all other top trackers as well. They are very collaborative that way.

If you’re willing to spend money, give usenet a shot instead.

The best trackers have some pretty strict rules regarding IP-addresses for this exact reason. If you’re suddenly browsing the site from a completely different location, it could raise flags. If you’re moving country or using a server/VPN (for browsing, not downloading), you might need to notify staff about it.

But as a general rule, if someone claims to sell invites to the top-level trackers it’s probably bullshit anyway. They are very closed down.

Just as a sidenote if you really want to go that route there are some trackers that can be joined with a donation upfront. It is better to join trackers with an invite, or wait for open signups, or interview to join if possible, but if you’re really thinking of going that route at least this won’t break any of the tracker’s rules.

    See https://opentrackers.org/tag/donation-signup/ for example.

PS - Joining a tracker that way does not make you immune to their rules just FYI, you’ll still get banned eventually for not seeding/maintaining ratio & things like that.

Yeah like others mentioned, I would strongly advise against doing this. Will probably get scammed or cabal banned at worst too.

But my advice if you have the money to spend and want to just easy access, look at the donation signups that Brickfrog mentioned.

In particular, I think TL, PHD, HDT, AvistaZ, and CinemaZ are worth while to donate and join.

Don’t know if it still work that way but once you are in cinemaz, you will see notification from time to time when avistaz has open sign-up. Also red for music is good, sign-up is (or was) threw interview. Not difficult if you know basics of torrent/ripping but ratio isn’t easy to maintain.
