The spelling aid on that one has always rubbed me wrong.
It’s not supposed to help you spell the word? It’s a comment on the danger of assuming things.
The full bit is “when you assume, it makes an ass of u and me!”
Teacher dropped that line on my class when I was a little dude, with a comedic pause instead of actually articulating “ass”. We all got a kick out of it, the correct spelling of “assume” was instantly and permanently ingrained in our heads, and I’ve heard it referenced quite a few times since.
But after the initial giggle, there’s the “hey wait a minute, if YOU assume, that only makes an ass of YOU!”
