Do sports games even do all that well on PC?

I kind of get not wanting to do a PC port considering how much more critical PC gamers are and how much more development and post launch support time and overall cost it adds considering every UFC/FIFA/NBA 2K/MADDEN sportsbro likely already has at least a last gen console almost exclusively for those games and like COD. No judgement there, I’m friends with some of these, but it sort of feels like they can still make bank only catering to consoles because that’s where the biggest share of their fans are.

Especially in less wealthy countries; there’s a reason why the last PS2 game to be released was Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, several years after every other genre, franchise and developer abandoned the platform. Maybe it’s just not worth the hassle and the money.

It’s not like they haven’t tried in the (admittedly distant) past. The PC Madden ports of the mid 2000’s even supported ATI Truform tessellation. I can’t think of any other titles that weren’t built using Idtech engines (or relatives like Goldsrc) that did, so they clearly tried.
