As I said, Dems joining the freedom caucus in getting rid of McCarthy was a mistake. We’ve gone bad to worse. I fully expect the longest government shutdown in history, Ukraine getting cut off, climate initiatives to be cut off, and more.

It goes both ways; McCarthy refused to make a deal with the Dems to save his job. He refused, and here we are

Funny how you see that as the Dems siding with the freedumb caucus and not McCarthy doing absolutely nothing to work with the Dems as well as going back on the deal he made? McCarthy and the Republicans are the ones driving the saddest, unfunny clown car into it’s own REPUBLICAN LED blockade.

I agree with you that all the other stuff will happen though. The more being the American people suffering from gun violence at bowling alleys, natural disasters turning from a stiff breeze and a drizzle to a monstrous storm overnight, and veterans who can’t get access to healthcare because Republicans seem to dislike providing for the ones they sent to fight a war for oil.

We have gone from bad to worse, but you should really blame the right people. Neither side is good, but at least the Dems are willing to come to the table and make a deal.

Yeah, McCarthy sucks. But I’d rather democrats save America from the mess we will see than just let Republicans crash the country.

Yeah, republicans are the problem, but we can’t do shit about that for over a year. We have to live in the meantime.

Exactly how can the Democrats save America when not a single Republican will work with them? Should they use Republicans tactics of forcing the government to grind to a halt when they can’t get what they want? I think the Republicans have all manner of shitty, minority rule tied up so the Democrats are all out of options. The Republicans could end this at any second and could have ended the speaker issues before they even started, yet you think it’s the Democrats that need to be scolded. Tell your Republican friends to stop voting for cartoon villains as elected officials.

If not a single Republican will work with them, how did the temporary spending bill pass?

I have no Republican friends. I DETEST Republicans with every fiber of my being. But I do want the best for America, and as bad as McCarthy was, Johnson will be far worse.

They did that by waiting until the last fucking minute so no one could read the actual CR. they only did that because they know there is no way to take the heat off them for shutting down the country, AGAIN

Johnson will be the exact same. Absolutely no ability to get anything accomplished in the house.

They raised the debt ceiling and funded the government, at least temporarily. More than Johnson is likely to do, at least not without batshit insane provisions attached.

You can be frustrated at your own party. Of course the majority blame is on the Republicans but you can’t deny that the Democrats made a blunder here.

I can deny that. Please enlighten me on exactly how the Democrats could have played this differently. They aren’t the ones who changed the requirements to let ONE person decide the speaker wasn’t doing their job. They aren’t the ones who used the rule to oust the speaker, they voted exactly the same in the record number of speaker votes for one term that I sure hope won’t be broken. They aren’t even the ones who said they wouldn’t compromise.

ETA: McCarthy accepted the rule for one person to be able to oust him AFTER several votes showing the Democrats were voting en bloc, so he knew from the get go that as soon as one of those freedumb turds got upset his job was lost. Was he banking on Democrats support even though he could clearly see there was no way he would make it through the entire term as speaker.

They could have voted to keep him in, which is what is better for their constituents than this clown. Lol, how is that hard to see?

He went back on the deal he made and a whole bunch of egregious shit and I would guess McCarthy also things very similarly, which is exactly why SOOO many Republicans support have even less problems with him than they did McCarthy. Why did it take 15 votes to get McCarthy the job but not this guy? You sound like a victim of domestic violence saying that if you just accept it, everything will be better for you.

The best thing for all constituents is to put this shit show on highlight reels so people stop voting for the absolute trash of the American population. It’s very obvious to me to see.

You say that as though that wasn’t going to happen under McCarthy. They had him by the balls as much as they do the new guy.

Which is one of the reasons McCarthy got booted. He fucked over the democrats by torpedoing the initial plan, then fucked over the republicans by agreeing to another.

You “compromise” and agree to every regressive policy on the basis of “bi-partisanship” and you get our current situation. Where the Republicans are emboldened to do whatever the fuck they want, cause what are the Democrats going to do? Oppose it?

People are going to suffer either way. The question is if we want a slow decline, or a quick bandage rip and then we start to move on.

The former is how we got into this situation in the first place. The latter is how we’ll finally start to see actually progress.

Progress? What the fuck are we supposed to do for the next year? I’ll take the slow decline in hopes we don’t decline as far before the midterms and hopefully taking back the house.
