Hey, A few years ago when I had no money for Spotify or YT Music I almost exclusively got my music from freealbums.org Yesterday, just out of curiosity, I wanted to visit the site again, just to find out it went down. It doesn’t really surprise me much, considering the recent takedowns we pirates had to endure. Does anyone also used that site and knows of an alternative? I really liked using it back then, because it had Direct Downloads, super fast releases (I remember getting a new album a few days before you could buy physical or digital copies xD) and also a rather good UI.
you can try
You can sign up for a free trial of Deezer and then use deemix-gui to search for songs and download them.
Pros: Easy interface, fast downloads, FLAC files with lyrics and metadata built in, guaranteed no broken files or scams.
Downsides: you need to create a new account everytime to keep downloading for free.
If you already have a library on another music streaming service, you can use a tool like SongShift to migrate all your songs to a playlist which Deemix can download immediately, it’s super easy. Though if I recall correctly Deemix-gui’s official link is down, you’ll need a mirror.
We should have a lemmy to share arl cookies for deemix!
Program called soulseekqt. If you want a gtk app there’s nicotine+
Thanks, I’ll look into it :)
This is a privacy front-end for YT music https://beatbump.io/home if this interests you.
Here’s a site for more alternatives of other sites. https://libredirect.github.io
And just to be clear, I know how to torrent safely and where to look in the megathread, I just wanted to know if there is something similar :)
