It’s my favorite genre so I picked up the $20 early access on PS5 only to be met with a ridiculous queue at around noon on a Tuesday. What? Are only like 5 people allowed online at once?

This is ridiculous.

Update: my controller turned off after waiting in queue for 15mins which disconnected me completely. What?? Back to FFXIV I guess.

I’ve put about 5 days played into FFXIV. I got in Heavensward and I’m beginning to feel burnout. Idk I’ve enjoyed it but combat sequences are so few and far between in the MSQ. I just run from npc to npc all day. Feels more like a visual novel than a MMO.

haha genuinely, i feel the same about FFXIV and i’m not even as into MMOs as you. I tried to get into it, got about 60% through the ARR MSQ, and then lost interest. That base game is still ROUGH, or at least it was when i played.

Break it up with the daily dungeons/raids. Also, ARR is the longest slog to ever have slogged - they cut it down significantly already and it’s still a massive slog.

Take a break, return for the actually good expansions later. It will still be there.

Funny you’d bring FFXIV up, I guess you haven’t been around for EW’s release? :D

It’s “mostly negative” on steam - seems nobody can play it. So … just give it a few weeks and try again, if you can even remember to by then lol

First time trying a new game at launch?

Pro-tip: plann for queues and crashes for the first day at least.

Pro-tip #2: maybe read or watch a review before buying. That game looks terribad and reviews aren’t particularly good.

World of War Warcraft is also unplayable at noon on Tuesdays. It’s an uncommon enough time that the servers might be down for maintenance. They could do a better job explaining that if that’s the case, but it’s early access.

I’m actually pretty salty about this. I paid for early access knowing there’d be bugs and unfinished content, but I didn’t think a week after launch I still wouldn’t even be able to play it.

Honestly the game is fantastic once you’re in. Devs have been working 9am-midnight even 3am since last Tuesday (Aug15).

It’s not a hardware issue. It’s their software. I’ve been closely following their discord. Should have a fix soon and allow for unlimited scalability.
