So, I had a random thought the other day. And this is probably bindingly obvious and incredibly simplistic view of religion.
Way back when, people didn’t understand the world and some one or a small group invented an alternative explanation for what they couldn’t explain, therefore a higher being, a god.
They believed this so much, they passed it onto others who agreed and who in turn passed on to more people. They in turn bring up their children in this belief.
As humanity progresses, everything is explained with science and facts but religion has such a strong foothold now, you can’t really make it stop.
I’m autistic and extremely logical, so I don’t understand why people believe so strongly in something that clearly doesn’t exist.
Teaching children to believe in God is the key, I think, to why people believe so strongly. It’s basically, Mom & Dad taught me to believe in God, and I love Mom & Dad, so I believe too.

The threat of eternal damnation and a few other little tricks reduces the chances of someone questioning it all too much.
