Since the very beginning of the pandemic there’s been a massive effort from the entire ownership class to get back to business as normal. Since the democrats stopped having a use for it to beat Trump in the election, the entire political class has been united in the same interest. It’s not that the new variants are less problematic or not distinguished enough from the previous variants to get an easily repeatable name (instead of shit like EX.420). It’s that the pandemic needed to be over so (for example) the price of oil would go back up above zero. To that end we’ve had a massive program of manufacturing consent from pretty much all sides in the media.

I can’t wait for the new wave of anti-vaxers to bring us more laughing material.

I can’t wait for the suckers that inject this garbage into their bodies to try and justify it. You better go lock down again and hide under your mattress. Another head cold is coming…… 😆 .

They gonna parade Tony Fauci out there again? Maybe he can suggest we only have 4 people over for gatherings this time? Covid isn’t a big seller anymore. Just stop.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

NEW YORK, Aug 14 (Reuters) - A new COVID vaccine is due out next month, but health experts and analysts say it is likely to be coolly received even as hospitalizations from “Eris”, a variant of the Omicron form of the coronavirus, rise around the country.

Healthcare providers and pharmacies such as CVS Health (CVS.N) will start next month to offer the shot, updated to fight the Omicron version of the virus that has been dominant since last year.

They will be fighting declining concern about the virus, as well as fatigue and skepticism about the merits of this vaccine, Kaiser Family Foundation Director of Survey Methodology Ashley Kirzinger said.

As with the flu, Pfizer (PFE.N)/BioNTech SE (22UAy.DE), Moderna (MRNA.O) and Novavax (NVAX.O), have created versions of the COVID vaccine to try to match the variant they believe will be circulating this fall.

Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious diseases specialist at Vanderbilt University and a liaison to the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization practices, said it is possible that the ACIP could make a weaker recommendation for younger, healthier people.

Dr. David Boulware, an infectious diseases specialist at the University of Minnesota, said that according to research he has published, people who are boosted have less severe symptoms for a shorter duration.

Bummer that the covid / flu combo shot isn’t ready for this cold and flu season. That might help with uptake a bit.

To anyone else waiting until the new vaccine is available in September, consider protecting yourself in the meantime with Covixyl, which is a nasal spray. It doesn’t keep you from getting COVID, but it reduces the viral load for 4 hours, so if you do get COVID, it will be less severe (though you should still get Paxlovid at that point regardless).

How many of you lemmers are still wearing masks indoors? What’s the temperature of this community on the ongoing pandemic and the social murderous response by both parties since the dems took power?

I wear masks on public transport and when flying. Even without reading the latest research on long-term COVID impacts, the amount of people openly sneezing and coughing is enough to convince me to keep doing it.

We still wear masks in indoor crowded places (movies, concerts, malls, grocery stores).

In my country only ones wearing masks are Japanese tourists. No one gives a shit anymore and that is actually quite nice.

I really only see people wear masks at the Asian market anymore. I always keep one on me and put it on if it’s crowded but tbh I’ve resigned to being driven to early grave by everyone that treats it like a joke. Already been seriously infected with it twice in the past year, and on top of my hypertension and family history of heart disease and stroking out at 40, I’ll be lucky to see another 10-15 years.

Nope, they’re not a thing in the UK at all anymore. Even as someone who was supportive of most measures I’m glad of it.

None at all in my upstate, NY area. We ditched them a long time ago. They are useless anyways. There is no pandemic and really wasn’t one ever. We all got fleeced. Never again.

Lemme guess: the extreme drop in life expectancy since the ‘nothing’ started is because of the vaccines that came out a year into the trend?

Lot of committed actors to just walk out of their lives and pretend to be dead. Real expensive housing them.

If I had to do it all over again, I’d skip the shots and rely on my immune system. Something definitely wasn’t right with these shots, in my view.

There have been sane scientific reports about impurities and traces of foreign DNA being found in samples of the vaccines from all vendors and a study implying that two shots caused cancers in mice (https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/oncology/articles/10.3389/fonc.2023.1158124) doesn’t inspire confidence either. I know all the “fact checks” around the topic, no need to link me to it. They’re all written by people with no medical expertise.

The entire reporting about the pandemic was (in my opinion) highly unscientific, excluded critical voices (real doctors, not some snake oil salespeople) and came basically down to “just have faith in the science” and I feel terribly stupid for having participated in the sharade (not implying the entire pandemic was fake, but the way it was handled) and I hated myself for quite some time for having given into the pressure instead of listening to my intuition.

These vaccines definitely screwed with my health. My heart didn’t perform as well for about a year (confirmed by a doctor), I felt fatigued despite having been active and fit despite the lockdowns (also confirmed by a doctor), I definitely had some issues with blood flow/clotting and my lymphatic system is definitely still trying to get rid of something.

I’m not giving health advice here but please be aware that even if we accept the official number of 1/10000 likelihood of the vaccines having severe side effects (and I don’t think that’s true anymore based just on observations in my family and social circles, like women having screwed up periods, several miscarriages of otherwise healthy women, sudden appearances of cancer in people under 50) - if you’re the 1, it’ll fuck you up and no one will give damn. After talking to a few people who now can no longer work after having taken the shots, prepare for massive gaslighting, especially from doctors. Don’t trust in whatever is left of social security systems to care about you. They’ve all been told they’re imagining things or that they just had a genetic predisposition and would’ve had these issues even without the shots.

My trust in the medical establishment is at an all time low. And now they’re planning on dumping mRNA into everything, like animal vaccines and crops. This doesn’t seem right. I have a real bad feeling about this.

I’ll accept the risk if getting COVID from now on.

I was never anti vaccines, btw. But there’s been so much suspicious shit going on around this whole topic that my trust “in (capitalist) science” is in shambles. Just the appearance of “sudden adult death syndrome” right after the vaccinations started was highly suspicious and should’ve warranted at least a pause of the vaccinations. At the very least, I’ll have to assume that it was more important for people to get back to work as quick as possible and to “return to normal” was a terrible driving force behind the way of this pandemic was handled.

I’m sure people will come at me for all of this. I’m not (alt) right, I’m not anti science, but I worry that the rushed rollout of these shots was a big mistake. That doesn’t mean that the extreme anti vaxxers were right either.

Edit: Not to mention how my girlfriend’s migraines have increased severely and that her Astrazeneca and Moderna batches are known for having headaches as a side effect according to VAERS.

To the first 2 downvotes: Thanks for proving my point.
